Full Job Description

Peterborough College is seeking a passionate and experienced leader to join our team as the Head of Student Wellbeing & Engagement (Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead). In this crucial role, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring a safe, supportive, and enriching learning environment for all our students., You will lead and manage a highly effective team to provide a comprehensive range of support services to students throughout their journey at the College. This includes:

  • Overseeing the Student Wellbeing Centre and ensuring high-quality support is available.
  • Working collaboratively with curriculum teams to deliver a robust student welfare program.
  • Developing partnerships with external agencies to enhance student development.
  • Leading on the implementation of the College's Student Voice Strategy and ensuring student needs are heard.
  • Monitoring student attendance, retention, and progress, and implementing initiatives to improve these metrics.
  • Working alongside the Assistant Principal to ensure a safe and secure learning environment for all.
  • As the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, you will also champion the College's commitment to safeguarding students. This includes:
  • Playing a key role in promoting a strong safeguarding culture within the College.
  • Leading on the development and implementation of safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Providing training and support to staff on safeguarding issues.
  • Referring concerns to appropriate agencies and managing safeguarding cases.

    A degree-level qualification (or equivalent)
  • A minimum of Level 2 Safeguarding qualification
  • Proven experience of working in education or a similar environment
  • A strong track record of identifying young people's needs and developing appropriate support mechanisms
  • Excellent leadership and management skills
  • The ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and external agencies
  • A passion for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
