The opportunity is for an experienced and delivery-focused individual to lead the Trading Platforms and Risk TEC team within Corporate Technology, responsible for delivering change and support across multiple business lines. Application support demands will span multiple assets classes including rates, equity, credit and FX, and extend across vanilla and complex / exotic derivative products.

The Trading Platforms team provides support to facilitate trade booking, position management, pricing, settlement and back office processing of transactions. Acting as a key partner to business areas, the Trading Platforms team has a pivotal role in BAU support whilst contributing to the planning and development of system, and process change as well as new product offerings on a regular basis.

The successful candidate will oversee and build upon day-to-day operation, stakeholder interactions and business relationships managed by the application teams, providing continuous opportunities to drive and deliver improvements to systems and processes.. The role will require leadership across a number of application support teams and technology disciplines.

You will be Technology systems owner for Middle Office International Risk Platform. Overall responsibility for daily delivery of Risk measures on the international platform for Market and Counterparty Credit Risk. Responsible for strategic architecture and design of the international risk platform in line with the firm business objectives and regulatory obligations.

A key requirement is for the successful candidate to have a strong understanding of trading infrastructure, pricing inputs and lifecycle management mechanics servicing Capital Markets. A thorough understanding of regulatory reporting obligations post-MIFID as well as Technology controls (such as SOX, Cyber Risk).

A detailed understanding of the front to back process across different products and asset classes is essential, since daily interaction with internal and external stakeholders will be necessary to ensure Technology commitments and strategy can be achieved alongside business demands.

This is a demanding role which requires the candidate to undertake a multitude of disciplines, support a wide stakeholder base and provide SME inputs into current and future business and Technology initiatives in addition to managing and leading the day to day operation of the Trading Application suite., Management of the Trading Platforms support teams across the suite of Trading applications, including Murex, PvHub, Fidessa, Apex, MarkitWire, Bloomberg, ION and tertiary applications and Infrastructure.,

  • Ensure robust 1st Line support is available to Front Office for all Trading applications and support change delivery originating from E-Trading Team

  • Provide leadership and management to support 3rd party trading platforms that service the Sales & Trading activities for MUFG Bank EMEA & MUS group across multiple time zones.

  • Manage relationship and ensure continued engagement with 3rd party vendors of the trading platforms in scope as well as consultancies and service providers to ensure continuity and excellence of service.

  • Implementation of EMEA Technology strategy under the guidance of Technology management.

  • Support wider Corporate Technology functions and teams across the firm as and when required in projects and aligned areas of work, providing market, process and product expertise and information.

  • Provide post-execution support to multiple desks & departments for Sales and Trading activity, as well as booking platform services and knowledge to pricing, valuation and risk analytic Quant teams. Provide middle office functional support for Product Control, Finance & Risk Management

  • Engender a culture of zero tolerance for failures, measuring the performance and achievement of. This responsibility through clear, SLA driven metrics.

  • Liaison to FO desk heads supporting day to day trading activities, including supporting the Sales / Trader workflow and RFQ process

  • Provide a sustainable platform for business growth, including projects, planned system improvements and the New Product Approval workflow.

  • Develop talent, provide guidance, leadership, train and mentor team leaders in Trading Platforms. Promote full engagement on deliverables, motivate and empower junior members and lead the group with focus on strategic objectives.

  • Drive and assist the implementation of efficiency improvements and new business initiatives. Leverage Technology expertise to reduce complexity of processes and identify opportunities to enhance system infrastructure, processing inefficiencies and end to end control.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to maintain and drive improvements in service levels and deliver first class client experience ensuring effective inter-departmental collaboration.

  • Oversight and management of business priorities against team capacity and existing obligations, ensuring the Trading Platforms team is able to deliver against commitments..

  • Focus on reduction of operational risks associated to people, systems and processes, e.g. key person dependency risk mitigation via implementation of cross-training programmers, acquisition of sponsorship from stakeholders and partnership with business stakeholders for the implementation of strategic solutions.

  • Present structured management information reporting, monthly and periodical submissions to Business / Branch recipients as required. Leverage metrics to proactively manage activity and identify challenges, constraints or underlying control issues.

  • Responsible for ensuring the creation, management and maintenance of centralized procedure libraries, governance documentation and related policies relating to Trading Applications.


  • Management of the Risk Management Technology team. Responsible for managing a team of on-shore and Off-Shore technologists servicing Risk Management business users within international MUS group, EMEA Bank and MUFG Bank Tokyo.,
  • Technology systems owner for Middle Office International Risk Platform. Overall responsibility for daily delivery of Risk measures on the international platform for Market and Counterparty Credit Risk

  • Responsible for strategic architecture and design of the international risk platform in line with the firm business objectives and regulatory obligations.

  • Management of technology team of up to 20 members responsible for supporting, testing and developing the international risk platform. This includes BAU support, change/project development and QA/test teams.

  • Responsible for all system access controls and meeting SOX requirements ensuring satisfactory internal and external audits. This requires understanding of system to a sufficient level to provide accurate information around various controls when facing off to internal and external auditors.

  • Risk technology subject matter expert supporting the gathering of requirements for major change initiatives as well problem solving to resolve BAU issues.

  • Active involvement in various working groups. Provide advice on the feasibility of proposed solutions and directing the resolution of issues encountered during the execution of projects and change

  • Ensuring the Risk TEC platform meets agreed service standards, SLAs and KPIs. In addition the platform adheres to Technology & Security policy of the MUFG group

  • Ensuring the platform is appropriately architected to safeguard 24-6 business continuity., The role will be assessed in accordance with their employing entity's performance framework and process with relevant input obtained from the dual hatting entity as relevant.


  • As duties and responsibilities change, the job description will be reviewed and emended in consultation with the role holder. The role holder will carry out other duties as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the role as requested by their line manager or Department Head.

  • Proven track record in leading and managing application support teams servicing FO, incorporating off-shore / near-shore / managed service resources across International platforms.

  • Highly Proficient understanding of derivative products, booking methodologies, lifecycle events and product features across different asset classes particularly rates, credit, equity and FX derivatives.

  • Detailed knowledge of the market standard electronic trading platforms supporting Markets products including Bloomberg, ION, Murex, MarkitWire, TradeWeb, ICE Link & Apex.

  • Detailed understanding of Sales & Trader Workflow

  • Detailed understanding of front to back operation and support of Sales & Trading activity, including delivery of critical data Market Risk (sensitivities), Credit Risk (counterparty exposure), Product Control (valuation) and Operations (Reconciliations, Confirmations and Settlements)

  • Demonstrate the ability to manage application change control processes (software updates), planning and forecasting for volume growth and effective control of system KPI's and business SLA's.

  • Expert level of technical competence across multiple disciplines, including Unix / Linux / Windows Operating Systems, Relational Databases (Sybase / Oracle / SQLServer), Java, Python or other functional programming languages.

  • Excellent understanding of system interfacing, including knowledge of JMS, MQ, JSON & XML. Experience in interfacing electronic platforms such as valuation, risk management and back office systems including vendor services such as MarkitWire, Murex, Apex, Bloomberg, Reuters, etc.

  • Operating knowledge of regulatory reporting obligations, including jurisdictions such as Dodd Frank, EMIR, MIFID, Uncleared Margin

  • Demonstrate understanding of how Operational Risks, System Controls, Information Security and Audit challenges relate to operation of Trading Applications and how these risks are managed and mitigated.

  • 10+ years experience in trading platforms providing front line support to traders, end-to-end ownership of application operation, managing sustainable change and leading distributed teams to deliver an international platform.

    The Trading Platforms team is part of the EMEA Technology department that provides a full IT service to all areas of the MUSI business, including Finance, Operations, Front Office and other Technology stakeholders across all trading activities. The role of the Trading Platforms team is to support and develop the suite of electronic trading applications used across multiple MUFG entities. The team will ensure integrity of the day-to-day operation of the software and will provide full support to all stakeholders in their use of the applications.,
  • The role holder is required to follow regulatory requirements applicable to ensure each business is appropriately supported and to maintain the legal entity integrity of each of MUFG Bank and MUS.

  • Working terms are dictated by functional mandates, the terms of the Dual-Hat Arrangement Agreement in place between MUFG Bank and MUFG Securities EMEA plc and any other relevant agreements entered into between MUFG Bank and MUFG Securities EMEA plc.

  • The role holder will have responsibility for identifying and resolving where there may be a difference or conflict in needs between MUFG Bank and MUFG Securities EMEA plc, escalating to their manager where required.
