Full Job Description

As a cardiac physiologist with an expert knowledge of current training programmes at apprentice, undergraduate and postgraduate you will develop, implement, deliver and monitor a service wide training strategy to meet the departments training needs.
In addition to training and development responsibilities the post will deliver expert Cardiac Physiology services in Catheter Labs, pacing and Non Invasive.
The post will be part of the Physiology senior management team. Managing the Cardiac Physiology resources efficiently and effectively, ensuring the smooth running of a quality service to patients, Post holder to perform the duties of a highly specialist expert practitioner, to competently perform a wide range of complex and highly complex specialised Cardiac investigations, both invasive and non-invasive; interpretation and reporting of results.
To demonstrate a high level of clinical competence in the care of cardiac patients and to support, develop and supervise staff in gaining clinical competence and confidence.
To be an integral part of the Cardiac Physiology management team, delivering clear leadership, utilising comprehensive policies and protocols to support this.
To line manage members of staff in training especially STP and PTP students ensuring that any issues or problems, such as absence, conduct, capability or performance are addressed promptly, by firstly reporting immediately to the Principle Cardiac Physiologist, and then helping to develop clear action plans for improvement whilst adhering to Trust policy., Post holder to perform the duties of a highly specialist expert practitioner, to competently perform a wide range of complex and highly complex specialised Cardiac investigations, both invasive and non-invasive; interpretation and reporting of results.
To ensure appropriate and thorough documentation of all procedures on the departmental IT systems to record all aspects of the service.
To act as an expert clinical role model and resource to staff to optimise quality of care delivery through facilitation of evidence based/best practice care.
To demonstrate a high level of clinical competence in the care of cardiac patients and to support, develop and supervise staff in gaining clinical competence and confidence.
To demonstrate use of highly advanced communication skills to support patients and families, to manage conflict promptly and effectively and to support and promote effective working relations within the multi-disciplinary team, Directorate and Trust.
To work clinically / educationally up to 80% of their total working hours as the service requires.
