Full Job Description
Essex County Council are delighted to be working in partnership with Uttlesford District Council to recruit for the role of Head of Transformation and Project Management. This is a fixed term opportunity for a period of 24 months.
The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to make a difference and be instrumental in driving Uttlesford District Council's ambitious journey of transformation and change.
This role will be key in ensuring that the Council achieves its objectives of delivering high quality services within the funding available and make Uttlesford the best place to live, work and visit. You will provide direct strategic support and work in collaboration with our Corporate Management Team (CMT), ensuring that all transformation programmes are planned and coordinated across the council. You will provide project management support to all areas of the council including the operational delivery of its Transformation Programme. You will be supporting senior managers with the review and redesign of services and embedding an organisational culture which supports transformation and change leadership.
You will have proven expertise in leading cross-organisational change programmes within complex and political environments, with a deep understanding of local government challenges, governance structures, and programme management tools, with an enthusiasm for collaborative working and stakeholder engagement.
Uttlesford is a thriving, predominantly rural district in north-west Essex encompassing Saffron Walden, Great Dunmow, Stansted Mountfitchet and Thaxted and about 100 villages and hamlets in between. It is home to London Stansted Airport and major road and rail networks with links to London to the south and historic city of Cambridge to the north.
Uttlesford District Council has about 300 staff and delivers a huge range of services for residents and businesses such as bin collections, providing council housing, deciding on planning, collecting Council Tax, restaurant inspections and running Saffron Walden Museum.
The council offices are based in the beautiful market town of Saffron Walden, with an array of independent and unique boutique shops, cafes, restaurants, and galleries, surrounded on all sides by fields and picturesque villages full of character.
