Full Job Description

Monmouthshire County Council is seeking to appoint someone to lead our Strategic and
Operational Transport services at what is an incredibly exciting time. We are recruiting a new
Head of Transport with responsibility for strategic integrated transport, delivery of the Local
Transport Plan, development and improving public transport with partners at both a regional
and local level, delivery of our school and community transport services both operational and
commissioning, fleet maintenance and management and the decarbonisation of fleet and our
operations. We are seeking a highly motivated, forward thinking and outcome-focused
leader with excellent communication skills to head up this important and highly ambitious
programme of work.
We are looking for an exceptional individual who is passionate about Transport, and who
possesses the skills and experience to successfully deliver the Council's vision and Local
Transport Plan, including improving network connectivity, prioritising modal shift and
reducing carbon impact. The successful candidate will be an innovative thinker who knows
how to motivate, inform and bring people together, working across the council and
communities and with a range of external stakeholders (businesses, other public sector
partners, organisations, voluntary and community sector organisations) to deliver our
strategic transport aims.
You will play a lead role in major development schemes and public engagements and will
represent the Council in partnerships and at national/regional fora. You will motivate,
empower and develop the skills of friendly and hard-working teams as well as playing a
proactive role in community engagement to seek to identify and support local priorities and
