Full Job Description

As the Head of User Research, you will be at the forefront of ensuring that our digital content and services meet the needs of our users within the Criminal Justice Hub., Your role will be pivotal in planning, implementing, reviewing, and executing user research strategies. You will collaborate closely with the product management team to ensure our resources, information, and content align with user needs and adhere to best practice guidelines, such as the GOV.UK Service Manual. Your goal will be to create an optimal user experience, making our content accessible, relevant, and user-friendly.,

  • User Research Leadership: Lead the user research team, developing and implementing research strategies that align with the Criminal Justice Hub's mission and goals.

  • Planning and Execution: Design and execute research studies to gather actionable insights, utilising methods such as user interviews, usability testing, surveys, and analytics.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with the content and product management teams to integrate user research findings into the design and development processes, ensuring a user-centered approach.

  • Information Architecture: Collaborate on structuring and organising content so that it is easily accessible and meets the needs of our users.

  • Guideline Adherence: Ensure that all user research activities adhere to relevant guidelines, including the GOV.UK Service Manual, and best practice standards.

  • Reporting and Documentation: Document research findings and share them with relevant stakeholders to inform decision-making processes.

  • Continuous Improvement: Review and refine the user research processes regularly to enhance effectiveness and efficiency.

  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and support to other members of the user research team, fostering a collaborative and open working environment.

  • Web design (including UX/UI)

  • Service design, Experience: Extensive experience in user research, with a proven track record of leading research initiatives and delivering actionable insights.

  • Qualifications: Relevant qualifications in user research, human-computer interaction, psychology, or a related field.

  • Information Architecture: Experience or strong interest in information architecture, with a keen understanding of how to organise content for optimal user accessibility.

  • Guideline Familiarity: Familiarity with the GOV.UK Service Manual or similar best practice guidelines.

  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to interpret user research data and make informed recommendations.

  • Communication and Collaboration: Excellent communication skills to effectively convey research findings and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

  • Leadership: Ability to lead a team, providing mentorship and fostering a culture of collaboration.

  • Adaptability: A proactive individual who can hit the ground running and adapt to the evolving needs of the project.
