Full Job Description

We are looking for a driven and enthusiastic men's and women's head coach, available to join us for the 2024-25 academic year to build on our successes and promote a competitive but fun atmosphere.

ECBC seeks a coach to lead the whole squad, working with an assistant coach.

About ECBC

ECBC is one of the oldest clubs in the country, having turned 200 this year. Both our M1 and W1 sit comfortably within Div II for Torpids, and our W1 achieved the highest bungline Exeter women have ever achieved in Summer Eights 2024 (5th in Div II). We are looking for someone driven, ambitious and hands-on, who will be able to help take our women into Div I for Summer Eights, and our men back to a comfortable position in Div II.

We are regularly able to field 6 boats for Summer Eights, with a consequently wide range of ability, so applicants should feel comfortable coaching at all levels. Our women's side in particular has a lot of healthy competition for seats in the 1st VIII, with several of our W2 being in contention for seats in the W1, an atmosphere we want to continue, and extend to our men's side (but crucially still maintaining a friendly environment). With high student engagement and commitment, we can guarantee opportunities for success for any driven candidate.

Our top priority is maintaining a fun and friendly environment, and keeping the balance of pushing our top athletes to the highest levels with ensuring an inclusive atmosphere. It is vital that any applicant is able to keep a balance between healthy competition and inclusivity. Our season is based around the intercollegiate bumps races in March and June, with training largely being based around preparation for this. We now have the budget to attend external regattas, so our goal is to also be able to field competitive boats for these events.
