The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role. The University Mental Health Charter is led by the UK's student mental health charity, Student Minds, and was created to shape a future in which everyone at university can thrive. The University is applying for this Charter Award which will help assess our progress towards adopting a whole-university approach to mental health and wellbeing. The post holder will work closely with the project team to collect and evaluate feedback from students relating to mental health and wellbeing provision, as well as helping to ensure that student views are represented in the Charter submission. They will collaborate with staff to design student focus groups and surveys, ensuring the qualitative and quantitative information collected is meaningful and robust. They will then lead on the delivery of the focus groups and surveys before evaluating the findings. We would expect the post holder to provide regular reports and/or present the research findings to the project team. The Student Champion will also attend and support the operations of the University Mental Health Charter site assessment, helping to ensure student views are represented. Key Tasks The key activities for this role include:

• Work with University and Students Union staff and Peer Guides to help deliver student focus groups and surveys that are meaningful and robust.
• Support the delivery of student focus groups, including booking the location, recruiting students, leading the session and documenting feedback.
• Collate, analyse and evaluate student feedback and present the outcomes to university staff via written reports and/or presentations.
• Attend and support the operations of the University Mental Health Charter site assessment, helping to ensure student views are represented.
• Attend briefing and planning sessions with the Project and Planning Manager to agree on key tasks and timelines.
Please note that evening or non term-time work may be required depending on the needs of the project.

This role is only open to current Manchester Met students who meet the following criteria:
• Previous experience of conducting focus groups and/or surveys relating to mental health and wellbeing.
• An awareness and understanding of university support services.
• Understanding of the challenges faced by university students and barriers that may prevent them from accessing support.
• Ability to analyse qualitative and quantitative information and translate it into meaningful commentary.
• Ability to present research findings in a coherent manner via written updates and/or presentations.
• Good listening, oral and written communication skills.
• IT skills including the use of Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel and Word), online services (i.e. OneDrive and Microsoft Teams).
• Ability to be flexible and adaptive to meet the needs of the project.
• Must be a current student at Manchester Metropolitan University.
