The Health Care Assistant will work as a member of the District Nurse Service and assist the qualified nursing staff in the delivery of health care to patients within a variety of settings. The post holder will be expected to be involved with phlebotomy.,
- Continue to develop and undertake a range of delegated tasks and will report to a registered practitioner.
- Provide assistance within unscheduled care services and contribute to the delivery and evaluation of care and interventions.
- interventions Carry out allcompetently and to a high standard as delegated by the registered practitioners in line with own scope of practice.
- Take responsibility for maintaining and developing own clinical competence within the workplace. Full UK driving license with access to a vehicle is essential
- Functional Skills in English and Maths, (Level 1 or equivalent) at interview assessment
- National Care Certificate Desirable criteria
- Level 2 or Level 3 In Health and Social Care Subject (or willingness to work towards), Previous experience in a health care environment
- Evidence of working as a member of a team
- Understands nature of the HCA role and responsibilities Desirable criteria
- Experience in a customer focused environment, Understands concept of Confidentiality and standards of conduct and care
- Willingness to undertake additional training and development in post, Ability to work contracted hours rotationally across day and night shifts, as reasonably required by the needs of the service.
- Ability to work alone as well as part of a team

The healthcare sector is exempted from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. In line with other NHS organisations in the North West Region, the Trust is now passing the charge for undertaking a DBS check on to candidates in the event they are successfully appointed into the post for which they have applied. Candidates can choose whether to pay this over 1-3 months as a deduction from the monthly salary. The role involves working autonomously with the support of the wider team to deliver planned care, and successful candidates will be able to demonstrate good problem-solving skills, adaptability and resilience at interview. Training and development support will be provided with a dedicated mentor and competency framework in place to ensure that the post holder is secure and confident in their role. Ability to work contracted hours rotationally across day and night shifts, as reasonably required by the needs of the service.
