Full Job Description

We are seeking for enthusiastic, caring and empathetic Healthcare Assistants to work as part of the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) in our Specialist Nursing Home wards. You will be working under the direction of Registered Nurses to deliver a high standard of care to the residents of the hospital. You will act as an associate worker for an identified group of residents under the supervision of Registered Nurses or team leaders, delivering safe and effective implementation of individualised programmes of care. Our Specialist Nursing Home offers care in a dedicated setting, delivered by a team who are experienced in managing neurological conditions while working to optimise independence and function wherever possible. You will be responsible for delivering patient centred care for residents with highly complex physical disability and cognitive behavioural needs. There is a focus on promoting independence and individuals choice to ensure residents guide us in providing their care. Main duties of the job 1. Assist residents with all aspects of their personal hygiene care needs including; washing, showering, dressing, continence and mouth care whilst enabling them to be as independent with these tasks as possible and enabling them to be involved in all decisions of their care. 2. To assist with mobility and positioning programmes including; hoisting, positioning and assisting with mobility aids according to personalised guidelines. 3. To support residents with eating and drinking tasks, which may include the use of adapted feeding equipment, recording of food and fluid intake and feeding residents with an impaired swallow function. 4. Communicate with residents and their families in all aspects of care, which may include supporting residents with complex communication needs and residents who present with behavioural / emotional needs as a result of their brain injury. 5. To maintain timely and accurate documentation in electronic patient records (EPR) documenting the day to day interventions and progress and escalating any concerns regarding a residents wellbeing at the earliest possibility. 6. To ensure that key members of the Multi-disciplinary team (MDT), most importantly the Registered Nurses are kept informed of any changes in the residents condition. 7. To support residents to pursue social & leisure activities personalised to them & assist in a facilitated leisure programme on the ward and by escorting them internally & externally on trips to help achieve this., Job Title : Health Care Assistant Levels 2 and 3 with evidence of Healthcare qualifications essential

Qualifications Essential English and Maths qualification GCSE or Equivalent Desirable Previous experience of working in a health or social care support role with evidence of Health and Social care qualifications. Experience Essential

  • Able to work flexible shift patterns including weekends and night shifts- full time employment.
  • An ability to carry out safer people handling and inanimate loads tasks.
  • Able to communicate professionally with residents and their families on a daily basis.
