Full Job Description

The Role is a Health Care Assistant/Administrator and will assist in the day to day running of the HIV outpatient department. This will include checking patients in, healthcare checks and observations and phlebotomy.

The post holder will also be involved in the administration of the department, assisting the admin team with writing letters, scanning, filing , managing calls and general office support.

The role will be vital to ensure the smooth running of the HIV service.

Main duties of the job

The post is based in the HIV Service at St Luke's Hospital but the post holder may at times be expected to provide cross cover in the directorate.

You will work within a multi-disciplinary team, and be responsible for a range of duties related to HIV outpatient's service.

Providing assistance and advice, ensure that all telephone calls are dealt with in a timely, polite and courteous manner.

To carry out healthcare checks including observations on patients. Urinalysis. Taking bloods. Restocking of clinical supplies. Cleaning of equipment and areas.

To ensure that patients are treated in accordance with the Trust's policy and procedures with expectations to contribute to the daily delivery of the service by ensuring all tasks are completed in as timely and efficient manner as possible.

To provide full administrative support to the admin team: typing general correspondence letters, scanning documents, photocopying, reviewing referrals, managing recalls, opening mail, reviewing incoming/outgoing emails and dispatching documents by post and email.

You should be literate and be able to effectively and efficiently administer and maintain all relevant IT systems.

A high standard of communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with staff at all levels is essential to this post along with a strong team ethic; you must have enthusiasm, motivation and demonstrate pride in your work. A good knowledge of the NHS would be also be advantageous.
