The ideal candidate will be a dynamic and competent individual who is able to show initiative and work proactively.
The department is very diverse with a wide variety of clinics and therefore requires the ability to learn quickly within a fast paced environment.
The treatments we apply to patients require staff to be able to use moving and handling techniques capably and can require substantial physical exertion.
This is a fantastic unit to work on and we look forward to making the ideal candidate part of our team., 1. To provide specialised care for patients on the dermatology/rheumatology unit under the direct or remote supervision of registered practitioners.
2. To work in the busy dermatology/rheumatology daycase unit and autonomously, running various dermatology and rheumatology outpatient clinics.
3. To use personal efficiency and knowledge to contribute to the development and delivery of a quality service. To be self-motivated and use initiative when necessary.
4. To undertake the hospital's in house training for HCA's, and maintain an agreed level of competence.
5. To ensure a high standard of care for all patients by effective communication with patients, carers and the wider health care team.
6. To work proactively as a member of the multi-disciplinary and multi professional health care team, with support of registered practitioners.
7. To be flexible as the post holder may work in different clinical areas across the trust.
8. Undertake a range of procedures relevant to clinical sphere of responsibility. These include venepuncture, wound care management, bandaging, undertaking idrionics treatment and the removal of patch tests., To chaperone in Doctors and CNS clinics, completing paperwork for fast track clinics and understanding clinic outcomes.
To work on the day case unit - This includes applying topical treatments, wound care, leg dressing and bandaging.
To remove patch tests competently.
Idrionics
Completing biopsy pack paperwork for theatre.
Completing skin assessment tools for patients in clinic.
Performing venepuncture on a daily basis within clinics.
Printing bloodcards
Assisting in rheumatology consultant clinics
Stocking all consulting rooms with required paperwork
Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is situated on the west coast of Lancashire, with services covering the local authority areas of Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre. The Trust is part of the Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care System (ICS) supporting a population of around 1.6 million people.
If the role you have applied for requires a Disclosure and Barring Services (DBS) check we will administer this as part of your pre-employment checks. Please note, you will be required to repay the cost on appointment. This will be collected via a salary deduction. You can choose whether to pay this over 1-3 months from your salary or as a one-off payment on commencement in post. The level of check required depends on the role that you have been offered. Currently the charges are - Basic DBS check £25.50, Standard DBS check £25.50 and Enhanced DBS check £53.50.
You are encouraged where possible, to register for the DBS update service. This is an annual registration fee of £16. By registering for the update service you will not have the additional cost of repeated disclosures.
Should you withdraw your application, you may be required to reimburse the cost of the DBS check.
DBS checks remain free of charge for volunteer positions.
