An exciting opportunity has arisen on the medical wards at ELHT for the role of the HCA. It is to assist in maintaining the highest possible standard of care under the supervision of a Registered nurse. To maintain a tidy and welcoming environment for patients and relatives. The staff will be involved with many members of the MDT(Multi Disciplinary Team) .
The departments we are aiming to recruit in to are General Medicine, Medicine for Older People, Respiratory, Digestive Diseases, Acute Medicine and Diabetes & Endocrinology. You will be working with the wider multi-disciplinary team, with a view of enhancing patient experience
This recruitment is for substantive post only, not bank., Health care assistants are responsible for providing a range of personalized care for patients under the guidance and supervision of a registered nurse including:
+ assisting patients with personal hygiene,
+ toileting,
+ use of continence aids,
+ catheter care,
+ measuring patient input and output,
+ support patients nutritional and hydration needs,
+ moving and handling,
+ use of mobility appliances,
+ correct patient positioning,
+ ensuring patient safety,
+ taking specimens
+ observing patients for changes in condition.
To support the productive operation of the ward environment by undertaking a range of non-clinical activities which contribute to the maintenance of a safe and clean environment, Health care assistants are responsible for providing a range of personalised care for patients under the guidance and supervision of a registered nurse including:

+ Please note that the salary advertised is for full time hours. If this post is less than 37.5 hours per week, the salary will be pro-rata. For posts on Agenda for Change pay-scales, new entrants to the NHS will normally commence on the first pay point of the relevant band.

Disclosure and Barring Scheme (DBS)

The healthcare sector is exempted from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
In line with other NHS organisations in the North West Region, the Trust is now passing the charge for undertaking a DBS check on to candidates in the event they are successfully appointed into the post for which they have applied. Candidates can choose whether to pay this over 1-3 months as a deduction from the monthly salary. However, if you are applying for a post as a BANK worker, the payment must be made in full at the time of employment checks. By applying for this vacancy you are agreeing to this undertaking in the event you are successfully appointed.
The cost of an Enhanced Disclosure will be £42.90 and for a Standard Disclosure £22.90 which includes a small handling fee.
