Full Job Description

The post holder will work as part of a multidisciplinary theatre team to provide a safe, efficient care environment for patients, relatives and carers. This position will be in the Operating Theatre As a specialist hospital we offer the following surgery:

  • Major head and neck reconstruction
  • Orthognathic
  • Plastic, including reconstruction
  • Hands
  • Ophthalmic, including corneal grafts
  • Burns
  • Upper and lower limb trauma

We are fully committed to training and development of the workforce with support for continuing education and learning., + The post holder will be required to work as part of a skilled theatre team to support the provision of an effective and safe clinical service. + Work as part of a team under supervision to provide a safe, effective environment of care for patients, relatives and their carer's. Under direction of a registered practitioner, to support a comprehensive level of care is given, maintaining high standards and continuity of care to patients. + Support the registered practitioners in the delivery of direct and indirect patient care. + Under the direction of a registered practitioner, undertake a range of delegated clinical peri-operative duties including record keeping, patient observations and specimen handling. + Assist the theatre practitioners in the checking of sterilised equipment, ensuring related paperwork is in order and completed correctly. + Communicate with peri-operative team, patients and their carers in a professional and compassionate manner. To escalate any concerns about a patient to the relevant practitioner immediately. + Assist patients when necessary whilst ensuring the dignity of the patient is maintained at all times, e.g. undressing, chaperoning, emotional and physical support overcoming barriers to communication as necessary. + Acting as a positive role model for peers, supporting other HCAs as required. + Maintain professionalism at all times and respect colleagues. + Careful moving and handling of equipment, wheelchairs and trolleys

On a daily basis you will be helping our patients maintain their comfort, privacy and dignity. The role requires empathy, good communication skills and the ability to work under pressure.
