Full Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Healthcare Support Worker to join our friendly and experienced Special School Nursing Team (SSN). We provide SSN to nine Special Schools across the Southampton, Hampshire, IOW and Portsmouth and we are looking to recruit a HCSW to work primarily in Mary Rose Academy in Portsmouth.
The nursing team are responsible for ensuring the health needs of the children are met using a family centred approach to assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the health needs of the children within a specialist education provision. The role will include teaching and training of school staff, supervision of delegated skills including children and young people with a range of complex care, epilepsy and seizure management, enteral feeding, and tracheostomy., To assist qualified staff in the provision of nursing care (including health promotion) as detailed in individual care plans.
Participate in the performing of appropriate tasks necessary to meet the needs of the ward/unit.
Assist service users outside the unit/ward/community environment to establish and maintain social contacts (unsupervised for periods of up to 1 hour in the local vicinity).
To undertake tasks that facilitate the smooth running of the unit/ward/community setting as directed by qualified staff.
The candidate must have recent experience of working with children and people with learning disabilities.
