Full Job Description
Ashford is a low secure forensic unit which provides specialist multi-disciplinary assessment for people with a learning disability, who also present with psychiatric disorder, personality disorder or challenging behaviour. We are based at Tatchbury Mount in Calmore. Ashford Unit has recently had around 10 million of investment for a specially designed unit to be built. This role will offer an opportunity to offer career defining training and challenges; it will offer exposure to a very distinctive and rewarding environment, where you will be part of a close knit team. You will work within a supportive multi-disciplinary where you will receive supervision from a Registered Nurse and be encouraged to progress your career within Southern Health.,
- Provide physical and psychological care to service users in accordance with the specified plan of clinical care.
- Undertake a range of delegated clinical health duties.
- Lead on engaging with patients in identifying appropriate activities; as well as the implementation and evaluation of activities, working alongside the Activity Coordinator and Occupational Therapist.
- Work in collaboration with key MDT disciplines in implementation and evaluation of group work within the service.
- Provide support to the nurse in charge and/or the person responsible for the Clinical care of the patient.
- Accurately record patient/client information.
- Provide support to relatives/carers.
We would welcome applications from HCSWs with experience of working with challenging behaviours; experience within a forensic environment is not essential, but a compassionate and caring nature is. You will work with other team members to promote independence, by providing effective treatment and skills training within a risk management plan to enable the patient to be discharged in to the community, or where needs dictate, onto an appropriate continuing healthcare service. You should possess excellent team working skills, be patient focused and embracing of the Trust values. You will have good communication skills and able to keep accurate and complete records., - Have sufficient skills and experience to understand the role of a senior support worker and work with minimal need for supervision due to competence in role.
