Full Job Description

The Maternity and Newborn Safety Investigation Programme is part of a national strategy to improve maternity across the NHS in England.
The Maternity and Newborn Safety Investigation (MNSI) programme, formerly the Healthcare Safety Investigation Branch (HSIB) maternity programme, moved to be hosted by the CQC on the 1 October 2023.
The maternity programme commenced under HSIB in April 2018, following the request from the then Secretary of State for Health and Social Care. The programme is part of the overall national maternity ambition to improve maternity safety and reduce harm by 50% by 2025. The programme was fully rolled out across England by April 2019. In 2022, a commitment was made to continue the programme for a further 5 years, there is currently 3 years of this term remaining., The post holder will play a pivotal role in ensuring a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion exists within the MNSI programme and that this is reflected in both external work, within investigations and in the wider MNSI team. You will manage relationships at a senior level ensuring excellent communication and working relationships are maintained and relevant information and data is available to demonstrate delivery of all MNSI health equity improvement projects and D&I programme.
Reporting directly to the Deputy Director (Operations) you will utilise MNSI data to develop, implement, and evaluate MNSI health equity improvement projects and D&I strategies to measure effectiveness and identify themes. You'll support a culture that ensures that health equity and D&I is seen as everyone’s business and is explicit in everything that we do.

+ Experience of liaison and negotiation at a senior level with a range of internal and external stakeholders
+ Direct experience of healthcare safety investigations
+ Understanding of best practice in investigation principles and process.
+ Extensive experience and understanding of the NHS and understanding of current healthcare and policy landscape in relation to health inequalities.
+ Able to sensitively challenge practice and behaviour that compromises MNSI’s equality aims and influence positive change
+ Deep and broad up to date knowledge and understanding of EDI with significant senior level experience designing, delivering and evaluating effective EDI activities
+ Excellent written and oral communication skills, with an ability to use tact and persuasion, along with excellent presentation skills
+ Good understanding of the public sector equality duty (PSED) and EQA2010
+ Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan and prioritise own workload with competing priorities.
+ Significant experience of developing, managing, and evaluating EDI initiatives, preferably at a senior level
+ Strong influencing skills and professional presence, Successful candidates must undergo a criminal record check.
