Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 4 Health in Pregnancy Advisor to join the well-established Health in Pregnancy Team (HIPT) and the Treating Tobacco Dependency (TTD) service at the Royal United Hospital (RUH), Bath. The HIPT and TTD service provide smoking cessation support and well-being advice to pregnant people attending the RUH for maternity care and in the community across Wiltshire and BANES. This varied role enables the opportunity for successful applicants to work in both the hospital and community settings. If you are passionate about health promotion and health behaviour change and working with pregnant people and their families this could be the role for you., Provide support either one to one, in a group or through telephone/virtual appointments in a variety of settings including hospital, home and community. To hold a caseload of clients and provide smoking cessation/well-being support to this client group, liaising with community-based services as appropriate. To engage vulnerable, sometimes difficult-to-reach, clients who may have initially declined support, using a sensitive non-judgemental approach. To support behaviour change using motivational interviewing skills. To undertake a detailed health and social assessment of pregnant women (including vulnerable pregnant women) and to signpost to further services available within the area. To provide smoking cessation support in line with best practice, the NHS long-term plan, the three-year delivery plan for maternity and neonatal services, Saving Babies Lives Care Bundle v3, and NICE guidance to women and pregnant people. Advise on available treatments such as nicotine replacement
therapy, offering support to wider family members where appropriate. To work flexibly on Trust sites or remotely as required, adapting to meet the needs of the service. To provide healthy lifestyle advice and information around diet and nutrition and general well-being
