Buro Happold are recruiting for a Health Safety & Environment Manager, this is a brilliant opportunity to oversee the HS&E of our UK + Offices. Job Purpose This role has overall responsibility for ensuring that there is compliance within the UK+Business Unit offices. Reporting directly to the UK+ COO, they will ensure the office H&S Teams are compliant and managing the H&S in their offices. They will also work with discipline leadership teams to ensure that H&S is actively managed within the disciplines. This role has responsibility ensure the effective management of energy resources to meet objectives and targets, they will perform all energy and sustainability-related tasks to ensure service provision and compliance., Responsible for the health, safety and environment for the UK+ Offices (including Central Business Services, Hong Kong, China and Greece)
- Assume responsibility for ensuring that health, safety and environment is 'no 1 on the agenda' aligned with the overall business goals and strategies
- Develop and continually refine the Health and Safety strategy for UK+
- Produce and deliver reports and presentations to the UK+ Leadership and Discipline Leadership teams.
- Advising and assisting the UK+ engineering teams with their duties relating to health, safety and environment standards, regulations and legislation (inc CDM Regs)
- Responsibility for providing advice, information and support on all health, safety and environment legislation and regulations, ensuring that policies and procedures are in place.
- Advise senior leadership and influence them to adopt recommendations
- Lead and develop innovative solutions to problems, new approaches and any health, safety and environmental legislation changes
- Ensuring all UK+ Offices are in compliance with the following initiatives; health & safety compliance, induction training, internal and external audits, ISO14001 and ISO45001.
- Lead frequent UK+ HS&E meetings with the HS&E Officers in order to discuss any communication from global bi-monthly HS&E Meeting minutes
- Creating the UK+ HS&E Objectives and targets supported by the Global H&S Director and Global ESG Manager
- Incident investigation - will take the lead on any high-level investigations on accidents/incidents/near misses that occur, communicating lessons learned.
- Review safety alerts and recommend actions across the business unit to mitigate/minimize risk
- Development and maintenance of Carbon monitoring dashboard - reporting on all scope 3 emissions (operational) within the UK Business units.
- Promoting energy efficiency and providing guidance and support for developing energy-saving practices.
- Collaborating with operations teams to enhance buildings' energy performance, especially through applying advanced control systems.
- Assessing, analysing and collating environmental performance data and reporting information to internal staff, clients and regulatory bodies
- Supporting the transition to 'zero carbon' offices, e.g. electrification of our buildings, identifying opportunities for on-site renewables and/or smart energy storage solutions
- Support in the preparation of business cases for energy efficiency investments leading on to implementing energy saving improvement measures across the UK offices
- Part of the global H&S team, meeting bi-monthly to discuss regional issues
- Attend global H&S meetings every two years, The candidate should exhibit a proactive and collaborative approach to health, safety, and environmental management.
