We are seeking a dynamic and inspiring Health and Safety Manager who is passionate about placing our customers, teams, and communities at the core of safety. In this role, you'll ensure full compliance with all H&S and environmental regulations across our operations and play a key part in shaping strategies, systems, and processes that foster a proactive, robust safety culture within our teams and community About Eastlight Eastlight Community Homes is a vibrant, resident-led housing association in the East of England. We own and manage 14,500 homes, offering a mix of social rent, affordable rent, and shared ownership. With plans to build many more homes, we are committed to tackling the demand for truly affordable housing. As Health & Safety Manager you will be responsible for: Strategic Direction

  • Developing, implementing, and monitoring Eastlight's H&S framework, ensuring full compliance with statutory H&S and environmental requirements.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive and embedded a positive H&S culture, sharing insights and promoting continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrating effective management of relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including customers and contractors.
  • Inspiring stakeholders to adopt Health & Safety best practices and policies through collaboration, clear communication and influence.
  • Operational Excellence
  • Creating and maintaining policies and procedures for effective H&S management.
  • Providing strategic and operational guidance on risk assessments and legal compliance.
  • Investigating incidents by determining root causes and overseeing the implementation of remedial action.
  • Implementing work prioritisation ensuring urgent tasks are handled, deadlines are met and managing your and your teams time effectively across multiple initiatives.
  • Culture & Communication
  • Driving H&S awareness by communicating effectively with teams and presenting critical H&S information to managers and leaders.
  • Acting as a subject matter expert, providing ongoing H&S expertise and advice to all levels of the organisation.
  • Regularly producing reports on H&S performance, including recommendations for improvement and assurance., We prioritise the health and wellbeing of our residents by ensuring they have access to high-quality, safe homes and neighbourhoods. Our residents pay rents and charges below market rate, and we reinvest every £1 to fund new housing projects, improve services, and address community challenges.

  • Proven experience in Health and Safety management, ideally within housing or a similar sector.
  • Strong knowledge of H&S and environmental regulations, risk management, and compliance strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate, influence and engage at all levels.
  • Proven ability to prioritise urgent tasks, meet deadlines, and manage time effectively across multiple initiatives.
  • NEBOSH General certificate or equivalent (NEBOSH diploma or equivalent level 5 qualification in Occupational Health and Safety). Technical IOSH status minimum., Disability Confident

  • Annual Salary range from £56,520 to £62,172
  • Permanent Full-time Contract
  • Annual wellbeing grant of £200 per annum - Subject to eligibility
  • Group stakeholder pension plan (Eastlight will double, up to 5% of the employee's contribution - Employee 5% + Eastlight 10% = Total 15%)
