Full Job Description
With the ability to engage people in safety discussions and drive improvement internally and with our suppliers and contractors you will provide professional health and safety advice and support to the Telecoms Operations function, making sure that we comply with the Health and Safety Management System and all relevant legal, industry and company standards. You will be experienced in developing and leading safety related plans and strategies and be comfortable working with a broad range of people to build our safety culture. You will have led investigations from both a Designated Competent Person (DCP) or Investigation Manager (IM) perspective and be comfortable in developing recommendations and closing out improvement actions. As part of this role you will:
- · Provide the single point of contact for all health and safety advice, guidance, plans and strategy for the Telecoms Operations organisations. · Provide functional support, guidance and professional expertise to project teams on all health and safety matters. · Lead/Direct periodic meetings with contracting / supplier organisations to direct improvement activity, share best practice and lessons learnt. · Develop key metrics and performance indicators to increase transparency, consistency and awareness of health and safety performance of Telecoms Operations and our suppliers / contractors. · Provide support to the project teams on inspection and monitoring of safety and environmental performance of projects · Lead / direct investigation of accidents and incidents and implementation of resulting recommendations.
- · NEBOSH Construction certificate.
- · NEBOSH Tech SP certificate Desirable
- · Membership of a relevant professional body with chartered status and/or educated to degree level.
- · NEBOSH diploma, IEMA certificate.
- · An experienced Health and Safety or Environment practitioner.
- · Knowledge of Behavioural Change techniques.
- · Knowledge of Network Rails systems and processes.
- · Working knowledge of rules, Regulations and standards applicable to contractor safety. To provide professional health and safety advice and support to the Telecoms function, co-ordinate the relevant Network Rail Telecom (NRT) activities and to facilitate compliance with the Network Rail Health and Safety Management System and all relevant legal, industry and company standards.
It is an advantage that you have experience of HEAS issues on major programmes in the rail industry and experience of leading and managing investigations as a Designated Competent Person or Investigation Manager. For this role it is also essential to hold or be prepared to work towards:
