Full Job Description

Tameside Council is looking for an experienced Health & Safety Officer who relishes the opportunity to take on a varied and challenging role.
The Health & Safety Officer will work as part of a team in supporting the Environmental Services Manager in the provision of a professional health and safety service to Council services generally and will specifically support Engineering Services. The work of the service will support the Council's aims and objectives and facilitate the effective management of health and safety risks, in order to ensure effective governance, statutory compliance and best practice. Their role will also involve giving advice and support to Council employees for their health and wellbeing, contributing to the implementation of the Councils Health & Wellbeing Strategy.

Applicants must have an excellent understanding of health and safety legislation and industry best practice along with experience of delivering health and safety training, carrying out audits and inspections, completing accident investigations and implementing safety policies and procedures., 1. Relevant professional qualification for the job role at Level 6 or above, AND
2. Minimum of 2 years post qualification experience in the role, AND
3. Maintained membership of a regulated body where this is a requirement to practice in the role where applicable, AND
4. Professional standards practised to the highest expected level.
