Full Job Description

We are looking for a Health & Safety Officer to join our team at Edward Jenner Court on a full-time permanent basis. The role will require you:

  • To provide professional advice on health and safety matters relating to staff, patients and premises, to undertake health and safety audits and inspections and to investigate incidents where appropriate or requested.
  • To assist in the reporting of RIDDOR incidents in accordance with HSE guidance
  • To provide full administrative and technical support to the Trust Health and Safety Lead and the Trust ASMS
  • To assist the Health and Safety Lead maintain the Trust record of audits and inspections.
  • To cover for the Health and Safety Lead during times of leave or other absence., To update health and safety records to demonstrate the Trust's compliance with statutory requirements.
  • To assist in the preparation and presentation when required of any health and safety reports for the Trust.
  • To monitor health and safety under any applicable legislative requirements and to liaise with the appropriate inspectorates.
  • Reporting incidents to the appropriate enforcing authority, in accordance with Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 2013 to the Health & Safety Executive
  • Advise, liaise, notify specific departments in the trust as required including the legal department where claims are indicated, estates & facilities and security regarding incidents and extract monthly and ad hoc reports for their Divisional Board/Departmental meetings.
  • Assist and deliver various face to face Health and Safety training sessions in conjunction with the Health and Safety lead.
  • Maintain the RIDDOR reporting process in line with the Trust policy to ensure a streamlined procedure from input of the incident data to final closure of the incident investigation.
  • Undertake general office duties, including photocopying, filing and data input as required
