We are currently looking for a Health and Safety Officer to join our Health and Safety and Quality Assurance Team within the Science, Research & Innovation group.
This is a full-time opportunity, on a permanent basis. The role will be based at South Mimms, Hertfordshire, with regular travel expected to our other site in Canary Wharf, London. Please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas.
Government departments and agencies are working towards implementing a minimum 60% attendance in office sites.
We are currently implementing a flexible, hybrid way of working, with a minimum of 8 days per month working on site to enable the collaboration and contact with partners and stakeholders needed to deliver MHRA business. Attendance on site is driven by business needs so depending on the nature of the role, this can flex up to 12 days a month, with the remainder of time worked either remotely or in the office. Some roles will need to be on site more regularly.

It is divided into 6 sub-Groups, Innovation Accelerator, Clinical Investigations and Trials, Research and Development, Standards Lifecycle, Control Testing and Quality Assurance and Health & Safety., Whats the role?
The role will work in the Health and Safety (H&S) team within the Science, Research and Innovation Group that sets the H&S performance management standards for the entire Agency. They will support the Health & Safety team in achieving Agency objectives and coordinate health & safety activities across the Agency., + Supporting the management of the Cardinus workstation assessment ensuring that all DSE queries are dealt with as well as regularly monitoring cases
+ Support first aid and fire safety requirements by monitoring numbers and locations of First Aiders and Fire Wardens, and coordinating training activities for relevant staff
+ Supporting H&S Advisors in audits where required, and assisting staff with carrying out regular building inspections
+ Supporting with Policy development in the team, along with ensuring health and safety information is kept up to date for staff

+ Qualified to NVQ level 3 (or equivalent), or have equivalent relevant experience in a similar role
+ Understanding and awareness of health and safety legislation and risk management principles
+ Experience of working flexibly to proactively undertake a range of tasks, and identify and act upon problems, challenges and opportunities with confidence
