Full Job Description

There has never been a more exciting time to have a career in Health Visiting in Wigan, come and see what it's like to work in WWL community. We are now seeking to recruit dynamic and motivated Health Visitors to join the Health Visiting Service in Wigan. Working pattern across Monday to Friday - this is a permanent part time post (34 hours).

We are looking to recruit motivated practitioners with initiative and drive and up to date knowledge of the wider public health agenda. You will work as part of a skill mixed team delivering the Healthy Child Programme (DH 2009) for a defined caseload within one of our Health Visiting Teams. You will need to have an understanding of children's health issues and be passionate about how public health nursing can positively influence the lives of children and families. The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate flexibility and creative thinking in respect of service delivery.

We welcome applications from those who are currently studying their SCPHN qualification (HV) and are due to qualify within the near future. Please note we are unable to support new study for the course at this time., We are currently working in partnership with commissioners to develop Health Visiting and School Nursing services into integrated Start Well Team, delivering services across a 0-19 Universal agenda. As a member of the Health Visiting service you would have the opportunity to influence the future design of this role and the wider delivery to children and young people in Wigan.

The post holder will ensure the planning and delivery of a high quality and effective Health Visiting service to a given population of pre-school children and their families. Working on the basis of progressive universalism they will work in partnership with individuals, families and other agencies to deliver effective interventions in order to improve health outcomes for the children of Wigan.

They will maintain a responsibility for Safeguarding and Protecting children within their area of responsibility.

An Enhanced DBS with Children's and Adults' Barred List checks will be obtained during pre-employment checks.
