Full Job Description

We are looking to appoint a Health and Wellbeing Counsellor, to join our Health and Wellbeing Department, where you will provide confidential psychological support and counselling to individuals within NYP, NYFRS and the OPFCC. As Health and Wellbeing Counsellor you will be part of a dedicated team who deliver an effective wellbeing support service.A large part of this involves delivering education and prevention strategies across all organisations, throughout North Yorkshire. You will contribute to the development, promotion, and review of all initiatives for managing health at work, including a psychological screening service for high-risk roles.,

  • Provide a professional and confidential support and counselling service to individuals.
  • Engage in the delivery of proactive programmes, working collaboratively with colleagues and managers to explore options and develop proactive solutions to enhance the wellbeing of employees.
  • Provide a support service for staff and their managers in identified roles where routine screening is required.
  • Provide support and management information to assist with future planning of the service and assessment of the impact of staff care provision.
  • Develop and maintain relationships and partnerships to support the achievement of objectives.
  • Provide an input on welfare and related issues.
  • Participate in service groups to actively contribute to seek to continuously improve wellbeing services including implementation of relevant processes, procedures, and guidance in line with codes of practice and legislation.
  • Promote and enhance the concept of staff counselling and wellbeing.
  • Liaise with the wider People Services teams regarding general staff care issues, training needs, policy, and practice.
  • Complete statistical information to identify any organisational issues or wellbeing trends within the workforce.
  • Advising the organisations on psychological occupational health related issues.
  • Actively pursue research or project work on specific initiatives.
  • Deliver education and prevention initiatives.
