Full Job Description

Not afraid of a challenge? We need a committed knowledgeable Health & Wellbeing Officer to assist our social workers with our core business - empowering and supporting vulnerable residents of Croydon who need signposting, practical community support, or even some direct help or advice from the Council.

At this difficult time the Council Leadership has made clear their support for our statutory functions, including Adult Social Care. We know where our priorities are.

We have an established and stable base of Team Managers to work with and support you, our vacancy rates our low - and we rarely use agency staff preferring to concentrate our efforts on looking after our permanent staff. This includes having a dedicated Training Officer supporting adult social care, and a Principal Social Worker to support qualified & non-qualified Social Care staff's welfare and practice. We have also recently upgraded our electronic recording system.

Health & Wellbeing Officer

If you are setting off on your Social Care Career or fancy a change of position and want to develop your skills in Adult Social Care, this might be the role you require. This role is primarily case work focussed, Client facing & interacting, but includes community liaison through GP Huddles and ICN+ Partnership working with Health & the Voluntary sector. We are progressing our community engagement strategy with increasing levels of community involvement & liaison. It is a role for many to enable them to gain knowledge & experience in working with vulnerable adults, their families and representatives and developing links and networks within a "locality" setting exploring the various support options available., In return we offer scope to our staff team to progress their career, develop their individual professional practice, analytical and creative skills, and a department wide commitment to realistic caseloads. Croydon Adult Services operate a case load limit structure, designed to maintain viable workload and support output of work. This is supported by a Council wide programme of excellent learning, development and career progression opportunities, epitomised by our strong Apprenticeship & ASYE programmes and commitment to pre & post qualification training., In the context of developing our services to continue to meet the challenges of the current situation we have moved towards "Locality" working with a heavy emphasis on "Strength Based" practice & assessments, including short and longer term work involving the following areas;

Older vulnerable residents, their families and representatives.

Older residents affected by Safeguarding, Self-Neglect, Hoarding and Mental Health issues

Applicants wishing to join our aspiring and progressive adult social care services teams will have a commitment to team working and an enthusiasm for contributing to sharing ideas that support the development of all our services. Candidates will demonstrate professionalism, creativity and drive in their approach to person centred practice and problem solving, they will have knowledge of the Care Act 2014 and how this impacts vulnerable adults & their carers. You will have the ability to work flexibly in response to a rapidly changing public service environment. Additionally, the staff here at Croydon are friendly, and the transport links are excellent, there is also support to explore the option of working from home on selected days.
