Full Job Description

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join the team at HMP Wealstun, a Category C male prison with an operational capacity of around 1000. The prison has good transport links, as well as a free onsite car park.
This is a crucial role within the healthcare team, making a real difference to patients, and delivering outstanding care. This role offers excellent developmental opportunities (including training to NVQ Level 3) and is a great environment to build on your experience within the primary care service.
Hours:
This is a full time role, 37.5 hours per week, working between Monday - Sunday 07:00 - 19:30 - usually 3 long shifts., As our new Healthcare Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:

  • Working within the primary care team, you will work with Nurses and Nursing Associates across the service

  • Provide outstanding quality based care to all patients

  • Deliver personalised, non judgemental care, based on patient feedback

  • Contribute to, and implement care packages, assist with health promotion, wellbeing and clinics

  • Support the nursing and pharmacy teams on the wings and healthcare centres

  • Support the mental health and substance misuse teams as necessary

    Our new Healthcare Assistant will:
  • Hold a NVQ Level 2/3 qualification in Health & Social Care, or equivalent

  • Have experience in a care setting previously - ideally from a hospital or prison setting

  • Any experience in primary care would be a bonus

  • Have a non-judgemental and compassionate approach

    This position is full time , you'll receive an annual salary up to £27,195 per annum - depending on experience.
