Full Job Description

Attenborough Surgery located in Watford, are seeking a healthcare assistant to join our team on a full or part-time basis. Working 30-37.5 hours per week across all 4 of our local sites, we are seeking a positive team member with a can-do attitude. Salary will be dependent upon the level of skill and experience of the successful candidate. Working under the direct supervision of the senior practice nurse and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, the healthcare assistant will assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care. Duties will include;

  • Phlebotomy.
  • Administering Flu/B12 injections/IM injections.
  • Carrying out NHS health checks.
  • Recording blood pressure.
  • Monitoring weight/height measurements.

    Experience of phlebotomy, flu/B12 injections. blood pressure monitoring, weight/height measurements.
  • Previous experience as a healthcare assistant.
  • Desirable:
  • General practice trained.
  • Experience of anti-coagulation, INR checks, performing ECGs, alcohol and smoking cessation awareness, suture removal, wound dressings.

    Attenborough Surgery is a training practice with GP registrars and medical students, as well as in house teaching and a team of salaried GPs, first contact physiotherapist, clinical pharmacists, social prescriber and dietitian as well as an award-winning team of mental health workers. We have a big focus on teaching and training. We are an EMIS Web practice.
  • We are a large practice of 30K+ patients, use EMIS. We have 4 local sites. All sites are within 15 minutes' drive of each other around Watford and our main site, Bushey, is a new purpose-built medical centre. The sites are within easy access from Hertfordshire or North London- 5 mins from junction 5 of the M1. Parking is provided on all sites, with a dedicated space when working at Bushey in our underground carpark.
