Full Job Description

As a Health Care assistant within trauma and orthopaedics you will be supporting patients with their personal, tailored individual needs. This will include washing, dressing and toileting, taking patient meal orders ensuring to order what is right for them and identifying different dietary needs. Serving meals and helping to feed patient who can no longer do this for themselves, helping patients to mobilise and to move around, making beds, monitoring patient conditions by carrying out observations, be able to use computers to input patient information onto our electronic record systems., At SWBH we thrive to achieve. If so we are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our NHS family at the brand new Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH) within Sandwell and west Birmingham NHS Trust across our specialist surgical services department. This includes our acute trauma ward A7, our elective orthopaedic ward B6 and post acute step-down area within B8.
We welcome applicants who do not hold Level 2 in direct care but have experience. Please note if you do not hold Level 2 you will be expected to undertake this on commencement of your employment, You must have excellent communications skills and be able to communicate any concerns that you may have or if you feel as though a patient is deteriorating or doesn't seem right, you must be able to communicate with patients, doctors, therapists and patient families. you must be friendly and approachable and willing to learn.
