Full Job Description
We are looking for highly motivated individual who is keen to assist in providing a fast track intravitreal injection and clinic service within the Directorate of Ophthalmology based at Sunderland Eye Infirmary.
You will work within this busy department carrying out ophthalmic investigations on patients attending outpatient clinic and prior to intravitreal injection. You will prepare instruments for injections under the supervision of a nurse on high volume injection lists. A training programme on commencement will support the development of skills which will assist you in implementing the patient pathway.
You will be responsible for ensuring the equipment is available and the environment is prepared at the beginning and end of each session.
You will assist the medical and nursing team to improve the patients experience which includes explaining, reassuring, and involving patients and relatives on their plan of care.
The service is currently Monday to Friday with variable shift patterns from 08:00 to 17:30. You will be expected to work in offsite locations such as Durham Diagnostic Treatment Centre and South Tyneside Hospital on a rotational basis as the service expands.
