Full Job Description

A vacancy has arisen within our Practice Nursing Team for a Health Care Assistant. This is an interesting, varied and important role within our Practice and will include working at both our town centre Practice and our branch site in Norton Fitzwarren., This role includes undertaking a range of treatment room duties which include venepuncture, ECG tests, urine testing, blood pressure monitoring, simple dressings, suture removal etc. You will also be involved in the daily monitoring of systems and processes to support infection control, patient safety and regulatory requirements alongside other members of the nursing team.

We can provide some specific training, but we are looking for someone with some relevant experience.

Good team fit is essential to us. You will need to be personable, friendly, positive and have can do nature.

We have a highly experienced GP team. We are a GP Training Practice (we have just been assessed as excellent for this and we usually have a F2 doctor from the hospital for 4 months at a time on rotation. We also have student doctors in the practice. Our Practice Nursing Team includes mentors, so we do take nursing students on placement.

We have a strong Practice Nurse Team providing a full suite of chronic disease management care and the usual treatment room functions, plus vaccinations etc.

We try to make the best use of clinical IT and have a specialist team handling issues such as clinical coding, data quality, templates, protocols, screen pop-ups, searches, audits, recalls. Examples of recent successes have been the reduction in workflow items being sent to clinicians, including the diversion of prescription related items to our prescribing desk function.

We are all supported by our Patient Services Team (used to be called Receptionists) who handle thousands of contacts per week.

The Practice is part of the Taunton Central Primary Care Network.
