Full Job Description

The main duties include venepuncture, cannulation, male/female catheterisation, attending and supporting with the care of deterioration patient, working along side the vascular access practitioner and supporting with the delivery or formal and informal education of staff

  • Basic numeracy and literacy skills
  • HCA training day
  • Willingness to undertake further training
  • Desirable criteria
  • NVQ 3 in care related field or equivalent, Previous experience working within an acute health care setting, Experience of delivering formal and informal education, Proven ability to manage priorities under pressure
  • Proven ability to understand and comply with detailed procedures
  • Cannulation Skills
  • Venepuncture
  • Desirable criteria
  • Care and Maintenance of Vascular Access Devices
  • Male/female catheterisation
  • Knowledge of AKI
  • ECG monitoring
  • Patient monitoring and documentation of EWS
  • Special AptitudesEssential criteria
  • Clear and accurate written/verbal communication
  • Able to work the hours required by the needs of the service
  • Able to adapt to the changing needs of the service

  • Please note that the salary advertised is for full time hours. If this post is less than 37.5 hours per week, the salary will be pro-rata. For posts on Agenda for Change pay-scales, new entrants to the NHS will normally commence on the first pay point of the relevant band.

Candidates can choose whether to pay this over 1-3 months as a deduction from the monthly salary.
