Full Job Description

  • As a Healthcare Assistant, you will provide a holistic care to surgical patients pre / post-surgery in a 1:4 nurse to patient ratio ward.
  • You will work closely with the ward nurses and be a patient advocate helping to deliver exceptional care.
  • Welcome and receive patients, visitors, and colleagues to the unit
  • Accompany patients (including their friends and relatives) between departments.
  • Assist patients with eating, drinking, patient hygiene, and elimination procedures.
  • Assist with observation and collection of specimens.
  • Participate in clinical audit.
  • Understand cultural needs.

    Experience on a ward or outpatient setting.
  • NVQ Level 2 (Direct Patient Care) or equivalent - essential
  • NVQ Level 3 (Direct Patient Care) - desirable
  • Good communicator/interpersonal skills.
  • Venepuncture skills/Phlebotomy skills - desirable
