Full Job Description

To assist the team to have a well-stocked, tidy and welcoming environment for patients. Carry out assigned tasks involving direct care of patients in support of and supervised by a registered nurse in accordance with local policy and trust guidelines. Relieve trained nurses of non-clinical duties.

To rotate through all clinical areas to meet service needs. To cover the unit over a 24 hour period from Monday 07:30 till Saturday 14:00

Under the supervision of the registered Nurse provide care to the highest attainable standard as an effective member of the clinical team, in accordance with agreed practice.

Check and prepare all transfer trolleys - i.e. Oxygen, suction, resus equipment, linen and replace, as required. Check and change Oxygen/C02 cylinders on patient trolleys.

To transfer patients to and from all clinical areas, report any problems or issues regarding the patient to the relevant nurse..

Assist in the safe moving and positioning of patients.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Elective Centre team. You are being given the chance to become part of a committed team, providing high standards of care to adult patients attending for surgery/ procedures.

We currently cover Orthopaedics, General and Breast surgery, Vascular, ENT, Oral and minor plastic surgery, Urology and chronic pain. The unit comprises of 46 beds, with overnight stay facilities for both surgical and medical patients.

We are operational between the hours of 07:30 Monday to 14:00 Saturday, and cover a variety of shifts including days, twilights, nights and weekends.

The successful candidate will need to be in good health: the unit is a very busy environment and can be physically demanding.

You will need to be flexible in your approach and possess excellent communication skills.

An induction programme, mentorship and in house training will be given.

You will be provided with a uniform and access to the NHS pension.

Communicate with patients and colleagues by telephone, face to face, in writing or electronically in order to contribute to the efficient running of the department.

Co-operate with members of the multi-disciplinary team and report patient information to the relevant member of staff.

Attend mandatory training and reviews as local policy.

Participate in performance review process and achieve objectives.

Contribute to the development of the service.

Participate in clinical audit, trials and research within the department

To comply with safety policies, procedures and guidelines for self and others.

To refrain from the wilful misuse or interference with equipment provided in the interest of Health and Safety.

To report as soon as is practically possible any hazards or defects.

To report as soon as is practically possible accidents or untoward incidents and to ensure appropriate incident reporting documentation is completed.
