Full Job Description

Bart's Health Children's Hospital at The Royal Londonis looking to recruit an experienced Healthcare Assistant (HCA) Band 2 at 0.84 WTE who will work on 7D Paediatric Assessment and Short Stay Unit in the Children's Division.

The post holder will ideally have experience of working with children and young people within a care environment and is expected to work with and support the Children's Division as a whole. The HCA is expected to undertake assigned tasks involving direct care to meet the needs of patients under supervision of a Senior HCA and Registered Nurse.

All the wards and departments within Children's Division are versatile and dynamic, committed to high quality holistic care with an emphasis on working in partnership with the children and young people and their families. The post holder will have excellent communication skills, be adaptable and keen to learn and develop new skills and knowledge through the availability of a variety of training opportunities. This may include assisting qualified nursing staff in the planning and prioritising of nursing care, but also the contribution to maintaining a safe and secure ward environment.

Barts Health has a diverse, busy, and demanding children's service requiring staff to be flexible in their working. The post holder will be required to work within a challenging clinical environment and may undertake shift work which may include nights and weekends.

The post holder will be an integral part of the nursing team actively taking part in meeting the needs of patients and of the service in accordance with agreed standards under direct supervision of the registered nurse. The post holder will develop essential competencies though training and practice to ensure safety and quality are the priority.
