Full Job Description

Birmingham Women's and Children's (BWC) NHS Foundation Trust are looking for motivated individuals to join us as Healthcare Support Worker (HCSW) Apprentices.

This is a fantastic opportunity to kick start your health care career and begin your journey within clinical areas such as surgical & medical wards, paediatrics, maternity and theatres.

This is a front line clinical role, you will undertake a HCSW Apprenticeship whilst working alongside a multidisciplinary team. HCSW's play a vital role in caring for patients; working under the direction of healthcare professionals they take care of the day-to-day needs of patients, providing help with personal care, meals, mobility, housekeeping duties and performing patient observations.

Walsall College are the training provider for BWC's HCSW apprenticeship. The dedicated team will support you, working closely with you and your manager in providing a comprehensive development plan with objectives and workplace goals. The apprenticeship will be completed within your working hours., Promote, monitor and maintain health, safety and security in the working environment

When required by service need, provide cover for the Housekeeper workload. This will involve cleaning and storing equipment, packing away stores, making beds and general ward tidying/cleaning.

Work within local Trust policies and procedures, living the Trust values.

Participate in research activities as appropriate.

To always act as a positive role model.

To participate in performance management and clinical supervision.

  • Be over 18

  • Understanding of Care & Compassion, with adults or children

  • Math's & English GCSE A-C/9-4 grade or Functional Skills L2 in Numeracy and Literacy

  • UK resident for 3 years + (this is an apprenticeship funding requirement that applicants will need to evidence for Walsall College)
