Heavy Goods Vehicle Maintenance Workshop Labourer

As a HVG Labourer you will report to a Shift Supervisor and spend most of your time in the VMU as well as assisting with off site repairs. You will be part of a VMU team which delivers excellent service to our wider business and maintains the fleet to the highest standards, complying to all health and safety procedures as well as DVSA requirements.,

• Collect and deliver vehicles to and from the Transport Dept
• Present vehicles through annual test
• General cleaning duties in the workshop
• Collect parts and other associated driving duties
• Assist VMU Technicians
• Contribute to the achievement of KPIs
• Ensure adherence to health and safety and security
• Work in conjunction with other key operational teams to ensure a smooth operation
  
  C+E LGV driving licence, tachograph card and DCPC
• Good knowledge and understanding of the Working Time Directive and Tachograph regulations
• Proactive, flexible and adaptable
• Open-minded and willing to take on new challenges
• Tenacious, hardworking and reliable
• Able to demonstrate excellent commercial awareness
• Able to work well under pressure and to tight and often conflicting timeframes
• An inquisitive mind with a good eye for detail

• Experience of working within a busy transport department, preferably with workshop experience
• Experience of working in a high volume, fast paced business is essential
  
  Following the recent expansion of our fleet, we have a fantastic opportunity at our Amesbury Regional Distribution Centre, Vehicle Maintenance Unit for an experienced HGV Labourer to join our team.

Our VMU is a 24 hour operation with over 20 technicians, apprentices and support staff. We have a modern fleet of vehicles and trailers to include Scania/Volvo diesel and CNG powered trucks. Working closely with other members of the team as well as the wider VMU and Transport team, you will make sure resources are aligned and a smooth-running operation is achieved. • £31,360.99 per annum
• 4 on 4 off shift pattern working an average 39 hours a week from 6am - 6pm
• 5.6 weeks paid holiday per year including bank and public holiday allowance rising to 6.6 weeks upon 5 years service
