Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic - If you are a dedicated and skilled Heavy MobileEquipment Mechanic with a passion for excellence, we invite you to join our team at theUnited States Air Force, 48th Logistics Readiness Squadron, RAF LakenheathWe are looking for someone with knowledge and experience troubleshoot, overhaul, repair,modify, and maintain a variety of types of heavy mobile and automotive equipment.Why RAF Lakenheath:Located in the heart of Suffolk, RAF Mildenhall is home to the 48th Logistics ReadinessSquadron. This base is pivotal in maintaining international security and fostering strong alliancesbetween the US and UK. Our team is dedicated to excellence, innovation, and the higheststandards of operational readiness., You will be responsible for troubleshooting, overhaul, repair, modify, and maintain a variety oftypes of heavy mobile and automotive equipment such as but not limited to forklifts, trucktractors, wreckers, busses, ambulances, sedans and hybrid vehicles. You will be required todrive a motor vehicle, a valid CAT B driving license will be required. You will be required toreceive training on the handling and disposition of Hazardous materials. You also may beassigned other duties not included in this position description, but that are appropriate to thegrade and skill set of the incumbent. Your hours of work will be 39 hours per week Monday toFriday where start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance withthe organization's flexible working policies. - You will perform heavy mobile equipment mechanic work including troubleshooting malfunctions, determining the type and extent of repair required, repairing, and maintaining equipment.
- You will perform automotive mechanic work including troubleshooting malfunctions, determining the type and extent of repair required, repairing, and maintaining vehicles.
- Use diagnostic tools, orders parts, completes documentation, and provides training and assistance to others.
- Utilize safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment.

As the Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic, you will be required to hold an NVQ level 3 inVehicle Maintenance and repair, Automotive Maintenance and Repair or similar. Youwill have the knowledge of a variety of types of heavy and light vehicles and vehicular equipmentsufficient to troubleshoot, repair, overhaul, modify, tear down/rebuild, and maintain systems andcomponents as well as the knowledge of safety practices and procedures and environmentaldirectives pertaining to handling hazardous materials.You will show skill in troubleshooting and repairing malfunctions in a variety of types of heavyand light vehicles and vehicular equipment and skill in using a variety of hand and power tools,measuring instruments, and diagnostic test equipment. You will have the ability to interpret andapply manufacturers' repair manuals, technical specifications, schematics, safety manuals, andsimilar guides sufficient to effectively maintain, repair, overhaul, and tear down/rebuild equipmentcomponents and systems as well as the ability to communicate effectively, provide training toothers, and maintain records.You will need to be flexible as it may be required for you to work overtime or holidays on shortnotice.All successful applicants will require a security clearance and a right to work in the UK.
