Heavy Repair Quality Assurance Inspector - If you are a dedicated and skilled individual with a passion for excellence, we invite you to join our team at the United States Air Force, 422nd Civil Engineering Squadron, RAF Croughton. We are looking for someone with knowledge and experience in performing inspections on a variety of complicated structures and maintenance activities involving sophisticated mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic systems and equipment, and the compilation of reports. Why RAF Croughton: Located in the heart of Northamptonshire, RAF Croughton is home to the 422nd Civil Engineering Squadron. This base is pivotal in maintaining international security and fostering strong alliances between the US and UK. Our team is dedicated to excellence, innovation, and the highest standards of operational readiness., You will be responsible for performing inspection and surveillance of difficult and complex maintenance, repair, and minor construction projects, which include duties related to inspection of equipment and materials. In addition, you will perform duties as a technical consultant to the contracting office and engineering flight and gather information to compile into written inspection reports. You will always comply with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures and perform work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment. Your hours of work will be 37.5 hours per week on a fixed schedule (Monday-Friday 0800-1630) where start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with the organization's flexible working policies.
You will have knowledge of construction inspection practices and procedures involved in the inspection of building materials, workmanship, utilities, and the installation of systems; and the practical methods and techniques of engineering principles relating to complex construction practices and procedures. Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and structural aspects of major construction projects and of inspection and safety practices and procedures in the construction industry will be required. You will be knowledge in reading and interpreting the construction requirements of engineering and architectural plans and specifications and construction trades, algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. You will also be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Qualification requirements:
- You must hold HND/HNC/BTEC, City and Guilds, NVQ level 3 (or equivalent qualifications in an appropriate discipline) together with specialized experience in the trade or successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with major study in an appropriate field (engineering, construction, industrial technology, drafting, surveying, mathematics, physical science, industrial technology, industrial arts, or engineering technician work such as electricity, material testing, or engineering mechanics) together with specialized experience.
- A valid UK Driving License - Category B is required Certificates and licenses must be submitted for your application to be valid. Other significant facts about the role: You will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules and regulations. You may be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft, and you may also be required to travel to the US or other country, in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training, this position may also be coded as mission essential. You will be required to complete a 6-month probationary period. Overtime may be required, and you may be assigned other duties not included in this position description, but that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the incumbent. f. From time to time, there are various courses that must be attended to keep up to date with new practices, materials and safety legislation. You will be required to wear personal protective equipment when performing on-site inspections and to operate a two-way handheld radio and/or mobile phone. You will be expected to be familiar with software packages currently in use by 422 CES and the NGEC contractor; training may be required to obtain the necessary proficiency. As the position requires the knowledge of numerous regulations and codes of work, from time to time, there are various courses that must be attended to keep up to date with new practices, materials and safety legislation. A pre-employment physical will be required. All successful applicants will require a security clearance and a right to work in the UK.
