Full Job Description

Fleet and Waste management team maintain a wide variety of vehicles and equipment, ranging from cars up to 32ton heavy vehicles. As an experienced and fully qualified heavy workshop technician you will be working from our new facilities at Atlas Works, Tyseley within Birmingham City Council's vehicle maintenance service; As a Workshop Technician, you will play a pivotal role in keeping the fleet on the road by providing efficient and sustainable service in the maintenance, and repair of our operational fleet. Your responsibilities will include but not limited the following:

  • Perform maintenance and repair on BCC vehicles.
  • Identify problems with vehicles using the diagnostic equipment.
  • Test the functionality of parts and systems.
  • Perform basic auto care and maintenance tasks such as oil changes, fluid level checks, and tyre rotation.
  • Repair and replace parts as required.
  • Perform routine maintenance and general technician work on vehicles.
  • Engineer parts, if no replacement parts are available, or cost prohibitive.

    City and Guilds HGV Motor Vehicle Mechanics / equivalent IMI Level 3 Diploma in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair - Heavy Vehicle/ BTEC ONC / HNC
  • The ability to function effectively autonomously, or as part of a team.
  • Minimum Category C driving license.
