Full Job Description

The Inclusive Learning Service at the college is currently looking to appoint a Learning Mentor to work with students with High Needs. The role is varied and challenging and will include:

  • Using a range of targeted interventions and coaching strategies to help students with High Needs enjoy, achieve and progress at College

  • Supporting tutors to develop and provide reasonable adjustments for their students in line with Education, Health and Care plans and wider SEND

  • Promoting and developing inclusive and person-centred practice across the college

  • Representing the ILS team and helping to promote support strategies across college

It is essential that you have experience of working with students who experience barriers to learning. You will have a good understanding of the principles of inclusion and be committed to providing personalised support in partnership with other educational professionals and agencies. Experience of working with young people with social, emotional and mental health difficulties or who have EHCPs would be an advantage as would having experience in a post 16 setting.

In return we offer a warm and welcoming college with outstanding facilities and an excellent benefits package that includes:

  • A 25-day annual leave entitlement, plus 8 Bank Holidays and 10 college closure days (plus an additional 5 days of leave after 5 years of service with us)

  • A well-respected pension scheme (West Yorkshire Pension Fund with an employer contribution of 18.9%)

  • Free parking at all our College sites (on a first come first served basis)

  • Family friendly policies and opportunities for flexible working

  • Superb opportunities for training and development

  • Discounted travel on public transport and a Cycle to work scheme

  • Discounts and offers at major High Street and Online retailers

  • Access to an Employee Assistance Programme.

  • So, if you'd like to be part of a unique organisation that supports one of the largest and most diverse employment sectors in the UK, we'd love to hear from you.
