The Home Office works to build a safe, fair and prosperous UK. We achieve this through our work on counter-terrorism, policing, fire, crime, drugs policy, immigration and passports. Home Office Intelligence brings together a number of existing teams involved in the collection and analysis of border and immigration related intelligence. It delivers Intelligence Collection, Development, Analysis, Targeting (Data Analytics) and Watchlisting capabilities within the Home Office and to its partners across Government and Law Enforcement. Intelligence - Home Office Careers This is an exciting opportunity to join our Intelligence Analysis and Assessment Command as a Higher Intelligence Analyst. In this role, you will work collaboratively across the team and its partner organisations such as National Crime Agency (NCA) and HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) in order to assess intelligence and data from a range of sources, turning information into actions at strategic, tactical and operational levels in support of Government policy at home and overseas. Training Successful applicants will undergo a comprehensive training and development pathway, which will include structured analytical techniques. Continuing professional development will be encouraged and well supported, providing the successful candidates with opportunities to develop their intelligence analytical career through working in different teams and potentially through structured loans to other parts of the Home Office group and elsewhere in the public sector. Candidates wishing to work part-time should notify the vacancy holder as soon as a provisional offer of employment is made, to explore whether this can be accommodated at your selected location., As a Higher Intelligence Analyst, you will be expected to:

  • Monitor and understand the intelligence picture within your specific area of responsibility.
  • Take the lead for specific strands of work, aligned to current priorities.
  • Identify a range of relevant and credible information sources and recognise the need to collect new data when necessary, from internal and external sources.
  • Take ownership for your own professional development.
  • Ensure the use and development of analytical skills, tools and methodologies to enable sound judgments and recommendations in the provision of high quality, products that inform management decisions.
  • Engage with the wider analytical community and internal/external partners at all levels, improving the flow of information and intelligence into and from your area of responsibility in order to inform product development.
  • Lead by example and promote the Home Office Code of Behaviours and Values.
  • Proactively work towards and maintain professional accreditation.
  • Training and working with others may necessitate visits in the UK with an overnight stay.
  • Candidates must start with a minimum of SC clearance (this is obtained during pre-employment checks if you are successful in the role) but may be required to undergo DV whilst in post.
