Additionally, this is an excellent opportunity for a physiotherapist with an interest in and experience of MSK for childhood muscle and joint conditions and injuries. The post provides one day specialist physiotherapy management to children and young people with chronic conditions in liaison with community colleagues. Confidence in delivering evidence-based physiotherapy to children and young people with MSK conditions is therefore essential. A qualification in hydrotherapy is desirable todeliverhydrotherapyto children and young people with complexpresentationsin our state-of-the-arthydrotherapyarea.

NHS England commission a national service development to provide treatment for complications related from excess weight (CEW) in children and young people. In NW England there are three CEW MDT hubs (others in Preston and Liverpool) covering the population from Lancashire and South Cumbria, Cheshire and Merseyside and Greater Manchester. Royal Manchester Children's hospital (RMCH) has a well-established CEW multidisciplinary team who assess and treat obese children and the related severe health complications.
The expert MDT provide advice regionally for the care of patients and deliver education to regional centers to help them establish more local services that can cater for their population. Services are run through a combination of face to face and virtual contact to ensure good uptake of management strategies and facilitate improved care.The dedicated MDT team regularly collaborate with other commissioned centers to share knowledge and experience to improve outcomes for patients nationally.
Please note that participation in the physiotherapy respiratory or orthopaedic (depending on previous experience) out of hours' service is part of the role.
Please note the CEW clinics extend past 4.30pm and clinics run across multiple MFT sites.
We are looking for an experienced physiotherapist to work for as part of a collaborative CEW multidisciplinary team assessing and treating children with complex obesity and its related severe health complications using innovative and new strategies in paediatric care. You will be the lead physiotherapist for CEW service at RMCH working collaboratively with physiotherapists from the national network of CEW services to develop effective pathways of care for these patients., MFT is one of the largest NHS Trust In England with a turnover of £2.6bn & is on a different scale than most other NHS Trusts.
