The Mid-Yorkshire Teaching NHS trust is delighted to announce an exciting opportunity for a Highly Specialist Cardiac Physiologist to join our friendly, supportive, and driven team.

Our busy cardiac service has undergone recent restructuring after the appointment of our new Cardiac Physiology manager building on our strong reputation for very high standards of care.

The team provides a service across our 4 sites with the addition of our brand new community diagnostic centre. We deliver Complex and Brady device implantation and follow up with an ever expanding remote monitoring/Domiciliary service as well as delivering evening/weekend on call cover.

In addition to your professional development, you will participate in regular audits and provide valuable insights to contribute towards service development.

You will have proven competency in device implant and follow up and hold either/or IBRHE/BHRS/EHRA accreditation.

Applicants working towards completion of BHRS logbook may be considered for the post at Band 6 to progress to Band 7. Banding of successful applicant/s will start at Band 6 until the necessary threshold of skills, experience and accreditation is achieved for progression to Band 7., Provide cardiac physiology expertise within the specialist area of Device implantation and follow up ensuring optimal standards of care are delivered.

  • Be able to fully support clinicians during complex/brady device implant, Independently perform device follow up both in clinics and on remote services with a high level of skill and autonomy and good under-pinning practical and theoretical knowledge.

  • Have a good base knowledge of other cardiac investigations

  • Provide training, supervision and mentorship of trainees in devices from different programmes/ clinical backgrounds, including accreditation, STP/ PTP students and registrars.

  • Contribute to review, update and amendment of standard operating procedures, training documentation and patient information leaflets in accordance with local and national guidelines.

  • Utilise specialist IT/ archive systems to produce records of complex clinical and technical data, ensuring information is stored accurately for governance, review and audit purposes.

  • Identify areas in the device service requiring improvement/ development and suggest ways of achieving improvements.

  • Participate in Continuing Professional Development and other developmental activities, including research and clinical trials.

  • Work with Team Leaders and the Service Manager in further developing the clinical physiology service.
