Full Job Description

Are you a band 6 or band 7 Occupational therapist or Physiotherapist with an interest and experience in hand therapy?

Due to maternity leave we have a vacancy for a part-time, 12 month fixed term post to join our established hand therapy team here at the Shrewsbury and Telford NHS hospitals trust.

The role requires specialist skills to assess/triage, diagnose, treat and manage a variety of hand conditions. Applicants must have prior experience within hand therapy but we welcome applications from both established B7 clinicians and from B6 clinicians looking to further develop their role and skills.

You will work alongside a team of colleagues at bands 3 - 8a at The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford, to deliver a high quality patient experience., This post will primarily support the management of secondary care referrals, including post operative and trauma management. Our senior hand therapists also work alongside our orthopaedic consultant colleagues in hand clinics. The department is involved in research projects and has close links with HEI's providing clinical placements and working closely to identify opportunities for staff. We are committed to allocated CPD time and we provide a core day once a month when CPD, mentorship, in service training and attendance at a monthly staff meeting is encouraged.

The hand therapy team is comprised of occupational therapists and physiotherapists within a dedicated hand therapy department.

Within the wider outpatient department we have a very experienced team including band 5 to band 8B therapists and support workers from band 2 - 4. The atmosphere in the department is very friendly, supportive and proactive which is reflected in our NHS staff survey results.
