Full Job Description
An opportunity has arisen within the Neurodevelopment (ND) Team for an experienced Occupational Therapist to be part of the assessment service for children and young people with neurodiverse presentations. The role requires confidence in assessment skills, decision making and multi-disciplinary working.
The Occupational Therapist will be part of the multidisciplinary approach to assessment and will support and be supported by the team. They will attend a weekly MDT's in the 0-18 service to support the assessment process in the Under 5 and Over 5 services. The post holder will be required to supervise and provide professional clinical oversight of occupational therapists in the ND team.
Current service developments will allow the occupational therapist to consider appropriate intervention needed for the child and family and to respond accordingly.
An understanding of the ND Profiling Tool (Portsmouth), ND assessment process, Putting Things Right (PTR) complaints procedures and supervision skills will be desirable. The ND service is currently in the process of transition and change, an understanding of change management, team building, and compassionate leadership are qualities that will provide support to the team., To provide a highly specialist occupational therapy service to young people and their families and input into the Single Point of Access for Children's Emotional (SPACE) Wellbeing Panel Neuro-Developmental (ND) 0 - 18 Service. This post holder will offer comprehensive assessments, evidence-based interventions and treatment packages to children and young people who have been referred into the SPACE Wellbeing ND service. This could include individual work, parent and family work, group work and other evidence-based interventions.
To provide highly specialist occupational therapy with both individuals and family groups with clinical autonomy drawing on a range of models and on basis of clinical needs. To practice in a way which is inclusive and considerate of the needs of each individual in the system including family members and their varying developmental stages and current emotional state.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
