Full Job Description

Our Trust knows the value of Childrens Occupational Therapy for neonates and infants. We have investment into our team to improve the outcomes of babies with the creation of a new 0.4wte Band 7 Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist Post working with neonates., You will be based in Sunderland as part of our Childrens OT team that covers South Tyneside and Sunderland. You will be integral in developing the service to and providing support into the Neonatal Unit at SRH, supporting continuing care within the Occupational Therapy department and all community settings.

A comprehensive knowledge and experience within Paediatrics including pre-term babies and children with complex presentations.

Experience of Paediatric assessment and management of pre-term infants.

Knowledge of the Education Health and Care Plans (Children and Families Act 2014).

Experience and a working knowledge of safeguarding.

The ability to work both within a OT team and the wider MDT.

You will also be keen to develop the AHP OT neonatal service and share and develop the skills of others in this area. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a team across our patch with other specialist clinicians to develop the AHP offer within our neonatal unit to support infants and families. You will be required to meet the travel requirements of this Post.

You will join our well-established Childrens Occupational Therapy service which supports children aged 0-19 years. You will work in providing support to the Neonatal Unit at Sunderland Royal Hospital. You will be a key part of our childrens OT service and will have opportunity to develop your clinical and leadership skills. You will be predominantly based in our Sunderland site providing care across both Sunderland and South Tyneside areas. As a team we work together to provide the best service we can whilst striving to develop staff who are our key asset to improve patient outcomes. You will have excellent support and be part of a wider AHP neonatal team and the Childrens Integrated Therapy Service team too. You will be well-supported both locally and also via the Northern Neonatal Network.
