Full Job Description

We are looking to recruit a permanent, full time, Band 7 Dietitian. The role will focus on supporting the existing Band 8a and Band 7's in the management, delivery and clinical development of the service. This role will suit a dynamic, forward thinking dietitian with strong paediatric experience, people management/ supervision skills and a record of service innovation and development. The Children's Feeding and Dietetic Service includes the Basildon, Brentwood and Thurrock Community Dietetic team, The Mid Essex HEF Team, Thecommunity non-IgE under 1 milk allergy pathway and the MDT Physical Feeding Team. The teams work together ensure the patients and families experience is seamless. CFADS consists of dietitians, speech and language therapists, an occupational therapist, a children's nurse, 2 assistants and administrative support. The post holder will work within the established community dietetic team providing paediatric dietetic advice, education and support to patients, carers and other health professionals within NELFT's communities, with a range of needs including: Enteral feeding, faltering growth, nutrition support, coeliac disease, fussy eaters / limited diets, nutritional deficiencies, weight management and constipation but with a focus on supporting babies with cows milk allergy. The cows milk allergy pathway is delivered virtually with targeted face to face support where clinically indicated. This and NELFTs policy on agile working supports opportunities for remote workingbut it is essential to be able to support face to face assessments and the Service in general when needed. Probationary Period This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff). Starting with NELFT NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex. High Cost Area Supplement - Fringe This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 5% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £1,258 to a maximum of £2,122 p.a. pro rata for part time).,

  • To provide high quality, evidence baseddietetic assessment and management to children.
  • To be able to cope with, be sensitive and be non-judgemental with patients and their families who have a variety of medical conditions.
  • To be able to provide advice in a sensitive manner within the child's environment.
  • To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work, including the management of patients/clients in your care.
  • Work within NELFT Trust clinical guidelines and professional guidelines and to have a good working knowledge of national and local standards including safeguarding.
  • To be responsible for maintaining own accurate and comprehensive patient/client treatment records, in line with professional standards of practice and within the parameters laid down in the NELFT Trust's Note Keeping Policy.

  • Degree in Nutrition & Dietetics or equivalent post graduate degree
  • Up to date registration with HCPC
  • Paediatric experience is essential.
  • NHS experience is essential
  • Excellent Communication skills & organisational skills

    The Children's Feeding and Dietetic Service (CFADS) in Essex is still expanding! Following the successful recruitment 4 dietitians, since April 2024, to support the community non-IgE under 1 milk allergy pathway and HEF service this year, the service has scope for further development.
