The successful applicant will have a mixed clinical caseload, will lead on a specific ( MSK over 5 year olds) pathway and will be involved in the development of new pathways and ways of working. You will receive on going regular CPD and supervision and will have the opportunity to undertake quality improvement training.

Working alongside existing band 7 staff you will provide clinical leadership and supervision to band 6 staff within our paediatric development programme, as well as supporting a Physiotherapy Assistant and students on placement. You will report to the Clinical Lead Physiotherapist and support them with the delivery of high quality operational services.

Based within the child development centre at West Ham Lane you will work closely with Paediatricians, Occupational therapists, Speech and language therapists and specialist nurses as the Specialist Children and Young People Service (SCYPS) who won a platinum service user award 2024. T

Newham is a diverse Borough and our caseload reflects the varied communities we see. We provide community physiotherapy to children between the ages of 0-18 years. Children are seen in clinic, mainstream and resourced schools, nurseries and the child's home.

The post holder will provide specialist clinical expertise in relation to the physical management of a mixed case load of children with complex needs up to age 18 years, providing a high standard of physiotherapy assessment, therapy intervention, management and advice to children, families and carers. This will include physiotherapy assessment, providing therapy interventions, devising therapy programmes, setting and reviewing goals, assessing for specialist equipment and orthotics and orthopaedic monitoring.

The post holder will work in a variety of locations within Newham according to the needs of the children; this may include clinics, schools, the child's home and other relevant community settings.

The post holder will work with children and young people, their families and carers and with other key stakeholders such as schools, nurseries and children's centres.

1. To undertake the assessment and clinical diagnosis of patients using investigative and analytical skills; formulating an individual management and/or treatment programme using advanced clinical reasoning and a range of specialist treatment skills, including a knowledge of alternative treatment options.

2. To assess children for specialist equipment and recommend its purchase;and subsequently be responsible for the safe and competent use of all equipment, appliances and aids, and ensuring each is safe for its purpose prior to use.

3. To provide therapy across community settings and provide specialist advice on patient care to other health, social, educational and voluntary sector services. This may involve negotiating changes to treatment programmes/care plans set by other paediatric professionals, in light of knowledge of child's home or school environment.

4. To work in cooperation of the multi disciplinary team ( SCYPS) and local stakeholders

5. To support the development of the rotational band 6 training scheme

To take an active role in Service Improvement and quality improvement ( QI )by identifying areas of service improvement needs
